Mara was written about characters, not only the characters who are cast in our lives that influence our story but the characters within us that are prompted by certain scenarios, new experiences or old patterns. It is about how these characters tell us who we are and restrict us to one way of life or one reaction to our experience. How they distract us from our current reality and tell us our story for us. They limit us. Our instinct towards creating meaning can lead to beautiful realisations and yet despairing truths. But most significantly these realisations and truths are that which free us from anxiety for what may be. They let us play and unfurl with the dance of life. Without the limitations of these characters we are free to just be in every evolving moment. Unbound, untethered. But ultimately we must realise these characters as beautiful friends. Friends that take us on this chaotic journey misleading us to lead us. Eventually, helping us to realise what we were searching for was here all along behind the selfs we create. The cracks that appear in our limiting personalities let the light of truth shine through.
Distractions of the modern world keep us from seeing these characters so we hide behind the light blue screens that mimic connectedness. The characters all serve their purpose in each experience but the light of awareness behind them shines through without the confinement of individual experiences. We can feel a joy in being a witness to the conversations these characters have without an investment. They define who we are not, as much as they define who we are.
Mara is who we are most afraid to see, and who we are most afraid to meet. Mara exposes us to these characters, some beautiful and some we fear as being a part of us. We deny Mara and wear the masks the characters provide as we fear what we might show underneath them. But we can be grateful for Mara as we are exposed to the truth from which we experience freedom. Characters can emerge very easily. The "understanding" of the characters can lead to another character that we attach to as a higher self that we again think is who we are. Though Mara is always there to expose them and remind us of the (non-dual) truth behind. Then we are free to be again.
“You may not want to know yourself because you are afraid of what you may find out. Many people have a secret fear that they are bad. But nothing you can find out about yourself is you. Nothing you can know about you is you.” -Eckhart Tolle.

Lyrics:
Mara’s got a bitter taste,
You don’t have to meet her right now,
But you can show your face every once in a while,
A crack in your spheres crust,
Feel the faith to leap,
Only two feet across but two miles deep,
I’ve found,
A sacred ground,
When cracks appear,
They light the sphere,
The Jester said to the Priest,
Why don’t you try and live free?
The Buddhist said I’ll go east,
To keep me on my feet,
Temptation, cruel needs,
The Artist hides in fear,
So stare at light blue screens,
And keep it up another year,
I’ve found,
A sacred ground,
When cracks appear,
They light the sphere x2
Wars were fought with the Birdman,
The Queen may have lost her way,
Thought we had our own plan,
All just characters anyway,
I’ve found,
A sacred ground,
When cracks appear,
They light the sphere,
I’ve found,
A sacred ground,
We searched in fear,
But found it here.
